He also spent many summers interning at the Goodspeed Opera House where he had the opportunity to perform in the premiere of Man of La Mancha. Snowdon attended Syracuse University to study theatre and later went on to receive his Masters in Directing from Catholic University. Before attending CU, he served in the Vietnam War. During the war, Snowdon wrote Pledges, which went on to receive a reading at Playwrights Horizons. After graduating from Catholic University, he moved to New York and began stage-managing at Circle in the Square, Playwrights Horizons, and Chelsea Theater Center. In 1979, Snowdon saw Bernard Pomerance’s  THE ELEPHANT MAN and was instantly drawn to the production. He became an associate producer and was instrumental in moving the play to Broadway, where it received the Tony Award for Best Play. Many of Snowdon’s other productions have also moved to Broadway including The Little Dog Laughed, Lovemusik, Spring Awakening, Time Stands Still, Master Class, Souvenir, The Visit, and Sweat. He also co-produced several Broadway productions including The Twilight of the Golds, What’s Wrong With This Picture?, November, The Mountaintop, and A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder. Snowdon’s Off-Broadway productions have received a number of Lucille Lortel and Outer Critics Circle Awards.
