Charlotte Moore is the Co-Founder of The Irish Repertory Theatre along with Ciaran O’Reilly. The pair founded the company in 1988 with the goal of presenting works by Irish and Irish-American playwrights. Charlotte Moore was born in Herrin, Illinois. She studied at Washington University in St. Louis where she studied theater and performed often. After graduating, she immediately moved to New York City, where she began to work with the Phoenix Theater. She also performed with Asolo Repertory Theatre, Hartford Stage Company, and the Delacorte Theatre where she performed in PERICLES (1974). In 1980, Charlotte met Ciaran O’Reilly during a production of SUMMER (1980) by Hugh Leonard. The two went on to become partners and form a company together, now known as The Irish Repertory Theatre. During this time, she was also performing on Broadway in Meet Me in St. Louis (1989). Moore most recently directed THREE SMALL IRISH MASTERPIECES (2018) and will next direct ON A CLEAR DAY (2018). For her work, she has received two Tony Award nominations, the Outer Critics Circle Award, the Drama Desk Award, the Drama League Award, the Irish America Top 100 Irish Award, The Eugene O’Neill Lifetime Achievement Award, and the 2008 Irish Women of the Year Award. She has also frequently been featured in Irish America magazine as a “Top 50 Power Woman” and was also named “Director of the Year” in 2011 by The Wall Street Journal.
