Brian Murray is an actor and director who was born in South Africa. Since 1964, he has been involved as a performer in various Off-Broadway productions, such as: THE KNACK (1964), AMERICAN BUFFALO (1976), ASHES (1977), THE JAIL DIARY OF ALBIE SACHS (1979), MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING (1988), HAMLET (1990), TRAVELS WITH  MY AUNT (1995), ENTERTAINING MR. SLOAN (1996), DA (1996), THE PLAY ABOUT THE BABY (2000),GASLIGHT (2007),  ME, MYSELF, & I (2010), and MAN AND SUPERMAN (2012). Murray received OBIE awards for ASHES and THE PLAY ABOUT THE BABY. Additionally, he won a Drama Desk Award for TRAVELS WITH MY AUNT. His most recent stage credit is his performance in A TIME FOR SINGING (2014), which was a part of the York Theatre Company’s “Musicals in Mufti” series. Murray’s Off-Broadway directing credits include: A SCENT OF FLOWERS (1969), AMERICAN BUFFALO (1976), TARTUFFE (1983), REAL ESTATE (1987), THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME (1993), and NOEL AND GERTIE (1993). 

Murray made his acting debut in Terence Rattigan’s  The Browning Version and continued his career in South Africa until 1957. He then went to London and joined the Royal Shakespeare Company, where he performed in Othello, King Lear, and A Midsummer Night’s  Dream. He began his theatre work in New York by portraying Tolen in the 1964 Off-Broadway production of THE KNACK. His Broadway debut was as Arthur Fitton in All in Good Time (1965). Other Broadway productions include: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead (1967), Noises Off (1983), The Little Foxes(1997), and The Crucible (2002). Murray was bestowed two Drama Desk Awards for his performances in the Broadway productions of Noises Off and The Little Foxes
