Dominic is a Newfoundlander of Lebanese and Scottish descent. At the age of 18, (but planned at 16), she left home to pursue her interest in interior design at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Dominic then moved to New York City in 1964, where she soon met Joe Cino. Following Cino’s death in 1967, Dominic worked with a select few to keep the Caffe open for another year. She also lived in Woodstock, NY, and wrote two books, The Queen of Peace Room and Street Angel. More recently, Dominic donated her personal collection and many photographs by James Gossage documenting Caffe Cino to the Magie Dominic Caffe Cino Collection at the Lincoln Center Library for the Performing Arts. She also established the Magie Dominic Off-Off Broadway Collection, part of The Fales Library and Special Collections at New York University.
