Sharon Washington is an actor and playwright. She has performed with companies such as The Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC), Vineyard Theatre, and Primary Stages. She has worked with great actors and creatives such as Moses Gunn, Denzel Washington, Christopher Walken, Joan Cusack, Don Cheadle, and Billy Porter over her extensive multi-decade career.  Sharon Washington’s Off-Broadway credits include: CORIOLANUS (1988), THE TRAGEDY OF RICHARD III (1990), THE RADICAL MYSTIQUE (1995), THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS (2010), WILD WITH HAPPY (2012), DOT (2016), and FEEDING THE DRAGON (2018), which she also wrote. 

Washington graduated from Dartmouth College in 1981 and worked as an assistant to Barry Grove (then MTC’s Managing Director) before enrolling in the Yale School of Drama. She joined THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS’ move to Broadway at the end of 2010, and has had recurring roles on television shows such as “Gotham” (Molly Mathis), “Law and Order: SVU” (Judge Virginia Hayes), and “City on A Hill” (Reverend Shirley Hanlon)  Washington’s film credits include The JokerThe Kitchen, On the Basis of Sex, Michael Clayton, andThe Bourne Legacy. She received an AUDELCO Award and a Lucille Lortel Award Nomination for her work in WILD WITH HAPPY. Her play FEEDING THE DRAGON was nominated for both Outer Critics Circle and Lucille Lortel Awards and won an AUDELCO Award. Washington also received an Indie Series Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the web series “Hustling” in 2015. She is currently a faculty member at the Einhorn School of Performing Arts.
